SEPT 2013, USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD-6) is a Wasp-class amphibious assault-ship and the third United States Navy ship of that name. It was named in honor of John Paul Jones' famous frigate, which he had named the French language equivalent of "Good Man Richard" to honor of Benjamin Franklin, the U.S. Ambassador to France at the time.

JUN 2013, USS Chung-Hoon (DDG-93) is an Arleigh Burke-class Aegis destroyer of the United States Navy. Chung-Hoon was named in honor of Admiral Gordon Pai'ea Chung-Hoon, recipient of the Navy Cross and the Silver Star...Joined Sunshine Action volunteering programs.

She was launched on 11 January 2003, sponsored by Michelle Punana Chung-Hoon of Honolulu, Hawaii, Chung-Hoon's niece, and commissioned on 18 September 2004. She is part of the Pacific Fleet and homeported in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

APR 2013, USS Green Bay (LPD-20) is a San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock. She is the second ship of the US Navy to be named for the city and bay of Green Bay, Wisconsin. This ship is designed to deliver a fully equipped battalion of 800 Marines.

The ship's name has resulted in a close connection to the people of Green Bay in Wisconsin and their professional football team, the Green Bay Packers.

"Some of these students are the best English-speaking students in the school and some other ones were invited because they’re pretty decent at English to but maybe not the best speakers,” English Teacher, John Carmey said. “It’s real good for these kids to have this interaction because they get almost zero exposure to English in Hong Kong. They might see it on TV but they just read the Chinese subtitles. Even their English listening class is a very unnatural computer voice. They learn a very stilted sounding English and they think that its normal. Exposure like this with one American talking to one student is good for them and they see that is not the way people really speak”

Green Bay is part of the Peleliu Amphibious Ready Group currently underway on a deployment with the amphibious assault ship USS Peleliu (LHA 5) and the amphibious dock landing ship USS Rushmore (LSD 47).

MAY 2012, USS Makin Island (LHD-8), a Wasp class amphibious assault ship, is the second ship of the US Navy to be named for Makin Island, target of the Marine Raiders Makin Island raid early on in the United States' involvement in World War II joined some of SUNSHINE ACTION events.

Sunshine Fortune Food Bags is a yearly program that involved more than 12'000 poor families/cases, over 30'000 final beneficiaries, 100 partner NGOs, over 10'000 students & volunteers in Hong Kong.

NOV 2011, the USS George Washington CVN-73 supercarrier 喬治·華盛頓號核動力航空母艦 together with USS Mustin DDG-89 & USS Cowpens CG-63 visited Hong Kong for 5 days and sent several teams of volunteers to participate in Sunshine Action volunteering programs.

喬治·華盛頓號核動力航空母艦 USS George Washington CVN-73，或常直接簡稱為華盛頓號，是美國尼米茲級核動力航空母艦的六號艦。1990年下水的華盛頓號是美國第二艘以美國國父喬治·華盛頓為名的軍艦。華盛頓號於2008年編入第七艦隊，以取代除役的小鷹號。以日本神奈川縣橫須賀為母港的華盛頓號，是史上第一艘駐紮於日本境內的核子動力艦艇。作為美國海軍唯一一艘永久在海外駐紮的航空母艦，華盛頓號航母的使命是，確保西太平洋地區的安全與穩定，時刻準備和盟國和區域夥伴合作，銜命應對任何形式的危機.

“喬治‧華盛頓”號航空母艦戰鬥群11月9日抵達香港訪問。“喬治‧華盛頓”號是美國尼米茲級核動力航空母艦，此次隨同訪問香港的還包括1艘導彈巡洋艦和2艘導彈驅逐艦，隨行官兵約5千人. 美國核動力航空母艦「華盛頓號」及隨行的兩隻驅逐艦和一隻巡洋艦訪港期間，百多名美國海軍在11月11及12日，參與由「耀陽行動」安排的多項社區服務，包括與青少年交流、探訪長者和露宿者。

SUNSHINE ACTION started this program since 2009 and by bringing food, drinks, basic hygene products and blankets, or other materials twice a week.

Touring Ocean Park with SMA-Spinal Muscular Atrophy patients

Together with SMA Charity Trust, we bring some SMA cases to Ocean Park.

Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) is a neuromuscular disease characterized by degeneration of motor neurons, resulting in progressive muscular atrophy (wasting away) and weakness. The features of SMA are strongly related to its severity and age of onset. SMA caused by mutation of the SMN gene has a wide range, from infancy to adult, fatal to trivial, with different affected individuals manifesting every shade of impairment between these two extremes.

脊髓性肌肉萎縮症(spinal muscular atophy, 簡稱SMA) 屬於體染色體隱性遺傳疾病，是因脊髓的前角運動神經元漸進性退化，造成肌肉逐漸軟弱無力、萎縮的一種疾病，但智力完全正常。其肌肉萎縮呈對稱性、下肢較上肢嚴重且身體近端較遠端易受影響。此病發病年齡從出生到成年皆有可能發生。

Touring HK Disneyland with mentally handicapped patients

In cooperation with PHAB, we bring 10 cases of mentally handicapped patients for a fun day in Disneyland.

Gardening, cleaning and fixing old houses of isolated elderly in Lantau Island

In isolated places of Lantau Island, there are numerous isolated elderly, mainly monks who live alone.

They have very few visitors per year and often need help with the surrounding areas with material transportation, gardening and fixing small parts of their homes.

DEC 2011, the USS Carl Vinson CVN-70 supercarrier 卡爾文森號航空母艦, together with USS Chafee (DDG-90), USS Bunker Hill (CG-52) and USS Halsey (DDG-97) visited Hong Kong for 4 days and sent several teams of volunteers to participate in Sunshine Action volunteering programs.

卡爾文森號航空母艦（USS Carl Vinson CVN-70）是美國尼米茲級核動力航空母艦裡的三號艦。1980年正式下水的卡爾文森號是美國海軍第一艘新船受洗下水時，其命名由來的主人公還在世的航空母艦。卡爾·文森是来自佐治亚州的知名眾議員，長年擔任眾議院軍事委員會（House Committee on Armed Services）以及其前身之一的海軍委員會之主席，達25年之久。他也是最早洞悉核動力航空母艦對未來海權擴張的重要性因此積極推動此類船艦建造的重要推手。為了感恩文森眾議員對於美國海軍的貢獻，軍方特地將新建造的航空母艦以他為名，也使得他成為第一位非歷屆美國總統或軍事將領身份但卻能獲得如此殊榮的人。

USS Chafee (DDG-90) is an Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer in United States Navy. She is named for Senator John Lester Hubbard Chafee (1922–1999), a Marine veteran of Guadalcanal.

USS Bunker Hill (CG-52) is a Ticonderoga class guided missile cruiser laid down by Litton-Ingalls Shipbuilding Corporation at Pascagoula, Mississippi on 11 January 1984, launched on 11 March 1985 and commissioned on 20 September 1986.

USS Halsey (DDG-97) is an Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer in the United States Navy. Halsey is named in honor of Fleet Admiral William Frederick "Bull" Halsey Jr. Halsey was commissioned 30 July 2005 at Naval Air Station North Island, Coronado, California, under commanding officer Commander James L.A.

AUG 2011, the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76) supercarrier, USS Preble DDG-88, USS Higgins DDG-76 and USS Chancellorsville CG-62 visited Hong Kong for 4 days and sent several teams of volunteers to participate in some Sunshine Action volunteering programs.

USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76) is a Nimitz-class nuclear-powered supercarrier in the service of the United States Navy. The ninth ship of her class, she is named in honor of former President Ronald Reagan, President of the United States from 1981 to 1989. Upon her christening in 2001, she was the first ship to be named for a former president still living at the time.

美國最大核動力航空母艦「列根號」訪港 美國最大最先進的核動力航空母艦「列根號」。有海上巨無霸之稱的「列根號」，是第三艘訪問香港的美國航空母艦。這艘造價三百六十六億港元的航空母艦，單是甲板已有三百三十米長，足有三個足球場般大，艦上總共有八十架新式的戰鬥機及直升機。

美國最大核動力航空母艦「列根號」及隨行的兩隻驅逐艦和一隻巡洋艦訪港期間，百多名美國海軍在8月13及14日，參與由「耀陽行動」安排的多項社區服務，包括與青少年交流、探訪長者和露宿者以及分派食物福袋。

The NAVY volunteers spent over 1 hour on this section with the low-income teenagers of this community.

「耀陽行動」第一個活動是在「鄰舍輔導會茶果嶺中心」舉行。住在該區一群熱心公益的青少年，在這個驕陽似火的下午，齊集中心內，興奮地等待這些海軍的來臨。他們首先有個多小時與美軍交談，練習說英語。美軍非常友善和藹，年青人毫無懼色，話匣子一下便打開了，說個不休。美軍有問必答，包括私人問題，引得雙方大笑！

然後每一隊帶著福袋，由青少年引領，探望住在該區的長者。「耀陽」義工擔任翻譯，使老人家與大兵哥也可以交談。一些長者甚至邀請探訪者留下吃晚飯呢。

晚上另一批海軍跟隨「耀陽」負責人帶著福袋探望深水埗區的露宿者。福袋除了食物，還包含一些衛生日用品。在「香港露宿救濟會」的帶領下，低調地送出捐贈者一點點心意。

The homeless shelter is situated in Sham Shui Po area, open daily from 5:30 pm - 9:30 am next morning. The capacity is for approx. 100 street-sleepers, including female floor.

星期天早上，海軍先幫忙包裝食物福袋，然後齊集長沙灣「明愛麗閣長者中心」，與「耀陽」義工和「明愛」的長者義工會合，一道攜帶福袋探望居住該屋邨的長者，尤其是獨居的。「耀陽」義工再次擔任翻譯，協助雙方溝通。

一些公公婆婆們在電視的新聞也得知「列根號」訪港，可沒有想過這些男女海軍會在自己的家中出現。他們笑咪咪地連聲道謝，也對海軍們已離家7個月表示同情。道別時「拜拜」不斷，依依不捨。

這次經「耀陽」安排的活動，海軍探訪了約200名長者及露宿者。他們表示，船上報名做社區服務的人非常踴躍，不但在香港，在其他地方也有參與，與一般人印象中上岸後只管玩樂的形象相去甚遠。

他們十分感激「耀陽」為他們安排的所有活動，讓他們有機會接觸到本地較基層的市民，從另一角度看這個繁榮的都市，並畧盡棉力送上溫暖，叫他們留下深刻印象。

SEPT 2011, the USS USS Boxer (LHD-4) visited Hong Kong for 4 days and helped to pack over 3'700 Sunshine Food blessing bags for the Mid-Autumn Festival & World Food Day programs.

The sixth USS Boxer (LHD-4) is a Wasp-class amphibious assault ship of the United States Navy. She is the sixth US Navy ship to bear the name, and was named for a British ship captured by the Americans during the War of 1812.
